CLAUS DICK

Funeral services for Claus Dick of Munich, N. D., son of Klass and Gertrud (Goessen) Dick, were held on Aug. 10, 1948, at 1:30 p. m. at the home and at 2:00 p.m. at the Salem Mennonite church, Munich. He passed away Friday morning, Aug. 6, 1948, in the General Hospital at Devils Lake, N. D.

A male quartet, Isaac Hoffman, Henry J. Dick, Henry F. Dick, and Wm. Janzen, furnished music at both the home and church services and at the cemetery. They sang "When My Soul Reaches Home," "I’m Goin’ Home" "Saviour Like a Shepherd Lead Us” "Shall We Meet," "River of life," "When the Roll is Called up Yonder;" and "In the Sweet By and By."

Scripture (Rom. 8:28-35) and prayer was given in the home by Rev. G. W. Schroder of Munich. Messages were given in the church by Rev. Helmuth Ortman, pastor of the Salem church, whose texts were II Cor. 5:1-10 and Isaiah 41:10.

Claus Dick was united in marriage to Annie Pankratz on March 6, 1917, at Chinook, Mont. In 1923 they moved to Clyde, N. D., where they resided until 1946. In the fall of that year they left the farm and moved to town, where he lived until his death.

He leaves to mourn him his dear wife: two sons, Leverne [sic Laverne] and Leslie of Munich; three daughters, Gwendolyn, who is taking nurses training at Newton, Kansas, Dorothy, at home, and Mrs. Bennie (Salome) Heppner of Hannah, N. D,; five grandchildren; three brothers, John of Henderson, Nebr. Dietrich and Cornelius of Munich; one sister. Mrs. Katie Thiessen of Salem. Ore.; and a host of relatives and friends.

Pall bearers were his three brothers and three brothers-in-law, John Jake, and Wilbur Pankratz.

In 1937 Mr. Dick was afflicted with diabetes. This and other complications caused his early death at the age of 59 years four months and five days.

Those from a distance who came for the services were Mr. and Mrs. John C. Dick of Henderson, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Fast of Bakersfield, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Fast and Sylvia, Mr. and Mrs. John Janzen, Mr. and Mrs. Abe Fast, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thiessen and family, all of Warroad, Minn.
