LAURA ANNA DETWILER

Laura Anna Detwiler, daughter of John L. and Margaret (Horn) Brubaker was born Nov. 10, 1873, near Leonard, Mo. and departed this life Oct. 29, 1948, at her home near Birch Tree, Mo., age 74 years 11 months and 19 days.

She was united in marriage to Benj. Detwiler on Nov. 5, 1892. He passed away March 20, 1933.

To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters: May Larrew, Blaine, Oregon; John of Culp, Arkansas; Esther, Samuel, Albert, and Alice of Birch Tree, Mo.; Milton of Wichita, Kansas; and Mary of Newton, Kansas.

She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, five sisters and three brothers. Mrs. J. R. Shank, Versailles, Mo.; Samuel E. Brubaker, Wichita, Kansas: Thomas E. Brubaker, Mountain View, Mo.; Hannah Bissey, Leonard, Mo.; Mina Esch, La Junta, Colo.; Sadie Carr, Mountain View, Mo.; and J. P. Brubaker, Edwards, Mo. One sister preceded her in death.

In her youth she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Mennonite church, to which faith she remained faithful until death.

Her greatest interest in life was the spiritual welfare of her family, the church and the people of her community. Her last and only expressed wish in her last illness was that all her children love the Lord and give their lives to Him. She longed for rest eternal and one of her last expressions was, "rest forever.” She will be missed in the home, the church and community. Her home was one of hospitality to all.

Funeral services were held at the Berea Mennonite church on Oct. 31, in charge of W. R. Hershberger and a quartet from Garden City, Mo. Text Eccl. 9:5. Interment in the Berea cemetery.
