FANNY [sic FANNEY] MAY DETTWILER

Fannie [sic Fanney] May Driver was born near Versailles, Mo. May 4, 1877, the daughter of Daniel F. and Sarah Branner Driver. She spent her entire lifetime in the community of her birth.

On June 27, 1906 she was married to John S. Dettwiler with whom she made a happy Christian home, where hospitality was supreme. Into their home two boys were lovingly received and reared to manhood. They are Gerald, now of Los Angeles, Calif., and Harry, of Washington, Ia., who survive. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe C. Driver of La Junta, Colo., and D. Arthur Driver of Howe, ind., seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died Jan. 8, 1937; three sisters, Mrs. W. M. (Ida) Lingle, Mrs. David (Emma) Shank and Miss Maggie Driver; five brothers, Frank, Lewis, John, Jake and Neal.

Mrs. Dettwiler and her husband were known for the innumerable deeds of kindness and hospitality extended to all as they labored for the welfare of others in their community. Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized into the membership of Mt. Zion church where she found great satisfaction in the work of the Sunday school, sewing circle and other activities of the congregation. Mr. Dettwiler served as a deacon in the church for many years.

Death came to her on August 6 at the Kidwell Rest Home where she had received care. Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion church August 9, Rev. Leroy Gingerich officiating. Hymns were sung by Mrs. Earnest Porzelius, Mrs. James Elliott and Mrs. Homer Garber. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Driver and his daughter Lydia Driver of La Junta, Colo.; Arthur Driver, Howe, Ind.; Mrs. [sic] and Mrs. Jake Driver Blue Springs, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Amos Gingerich, Parnell, Ia.; Mrs. Harley Evers, Ontario, Calif., Miss Ruth Driver, Dayton, Va., and Miss Marion Mohler, Denver, Pa.
