Text of obituary:

Retired Missionary Doctor Dies at 90

Berne, Ind. — Herbert Dester, 90, a retired medical doctor who served in India for 30 years, died Aug. 13 at Swiss Village in Berne, Ind., after an illness of more than a year.

Dester's medical ministry at Jagdeeshpur, India, grew from a small dispensary and village itineration into a hospital which required the employment of two doctors and a number of nurses.

One of Dester's outstanding contributions in his medical service was the removal of cataracts from the eyes of patients—sometimes as many as 19 per day.

At Dester's funeral, Edward Burkhalter, missionary to India currently on furlough, gave a tribute to him. Dester's wife, Edna, survives.
