text of obituary:
MRS. ANNA DERKSEN
Mrs.) Anna Derksen was born in Sagradovka, southern Russia on April 6, 1906. She and her parents moved to Canada in 1926. After a winter in Manitoba, she moved to Vancouver to find work.
She married Jacob Derksen in the Yarrow (B.C.) Mennonite Brethren Church in March, 1931. They moved to frontier Saskatchewan and farmed there until 1947 when they moved to Alexander, Manitoba. In 1972 they retired in Brandon.
She found the Lord Jesus as her personal Saviour in her early youth and was baptized in Russia. She remained faithful to her Lord and through her faith was able to bless others, especially in the last months of her life. She enjoyed gardening and doing handiwork, and found great joy in making and doing things for others. After an operation in 1974 her health declined and she passed away on July 2 in Brandon, Manitoba. Pastor Albert Baerg officiated at a funeral July 7 at the Brandon Mennonite Brethren Church.
She leaves to mourn her husband, Jacob; three sons, Walter and Louise, Menno David and Audrey, and Henry Jacob, all of B.C.; two daughters, Katherina (Mrs. Albert) Schattschneider and Martha, both of Winnipeg; eleven grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters; and many relatives and friends.
