LLOYD DECKERT

Lloyd C. Deckert, son of Henry and Elizabeth Albrecht Deckert, was born at Marion, S.D. on July 27, 1911. He died at the paternal home near Richey, Mont. on Dec. 23, 1953 [sic 1956] , at the age of 45 years, four months, and 26 days.

In the spring of 1915 he moved to Montana with his parents and grew to manhood in the Richey community. On August 18, 1929, he made his confession of faith and was baptized and received as a member of the Bethlehem Mennonite Church at Bloomfield. He manifested a deep interest and concern in the work of missions and gave faithfully to the work of spreading the Gospel.

He was married to Adina Nickel of Marion, S.D. by Rev. Jacob A. Thiessen, at the Bethesda church of Marion.

He began farming in this community, then bought a farm north of Circle where he lived until he retired in 1949, when illness made it impossible for him to continue. Stricken with multiple sclerosis, he sought relief at various places but after all proved futile he returned home where he died after a brief stay of only two and a half weeks.

He declared his readiness to go and in his lingering illness often expressed the wish that the Lord would take him home.

His wife and two brothers proceded [sic preceded] him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure his children, Roane, James and Arlys; his parents; two brothers, Waldo of Circle and Algy of Hillsboro, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Archie Kliewer, of Fairview, Mich.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
