• Gustav H. Decker, 87, a resident of the Halstead community since 1925, died Aug. 23 at the Halstead Nursing Center. Funeral services were held Saturday forenoon at the Kaufman Chapel in Halstead, with Rev. Robert D. Suderman officiating. Mr. Decker was a retired farmer and plasterer, and had worked for the city of Halstead. His wife, the former Katherine Schultz, died in 1967. Surviving are two sons, Clifford of Newton and Sherman of Colorado Springs; three daughters, Mrs. Ella Nightengale of Halstead, Mrs. Esther Barfield and Mrs. Ruby Good, both of Newton; a brother, Edward, of Anadarko, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Schaeffer of Clinton, Okla. and Mrs. Eleabel Perry of Comanche, Tex.; 22 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
