ABRAHAM J. C. DECKER

Abraham J. C. Decker was born May 27, 1867, in Poland, Russia, The parents emigrated to America in 1874 and settled near Newton, Kansas, where they spent the winter.

In the spring of 1875 they located near Moundridge, where he grew to manhood and received his education in the district school.

On March 2, 1887, he was baptized in the Mennonite faith and remained a member there until death.

In 1892 he was married to Susanna Frey and they enjoyed life together for more than 56 years.

To this union three children were born: Mrs. Edna V. Dunkelberger of Wichita, Leslie C. Decker of Moundridge, and Pauline Decker, who died in infancy.

Besides his bereaved wife and two children, he leaves to mourn his departure one sister-in-law, one daughter-in-law, four grandsons, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Meuschke and Mrs. Lizzie Hodel of Moundridge; one brother, Ben Decker, of Enid, Okla.; six half-brothers, Jonas W. of Galva, Tobias of Durham, Isaac and Jacob of Newton; three half sisters, Mrs. John Ratzlaff of Newton, Mrs. Pete Ratzlaff of Lamar, Colo., and Mrs. Anna Wedel of Galva. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He had been in failing health for several years. He left with the assurance to be in his heavenly home to which he made all efforts to go.

He passed away at the Wesley hospital in Wichita March 5, 1949, at the age of 81 years, nine months and six days.

The funeral services were held at the Calvary Tabernacle with interment in the Mound cemetery.
