Bluffton, Ohio. &#8212; Funeral services for Mrs. Metta Lehman Dean, 77, long-time staff member at Bluffton College and former missionary to China, were held Sept. 30 at the First Mennonite Church here.

Mrs. Dean's lifeless body was found in her Main Street home, where she lived alone, by her brothers Walter and Orlando Lehman and their wives of Berne, Ind. when they came to visit her on Sunday, Sept. 28. It is believed she had died several hours earlier of a heart attack.

A native of Berne, Mrs. Dean was a graduate of Bluffton College and served one term as a missionary to China. While on the Bluffton staff she served as dean of women and for many years as supervisor of the college dining hall. She retired seven years ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Theodore Toews of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a son, Dudley, of Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren, one sister and six brothers.

Former Bluffton Staff Member, Missionary to China Dies

Bluffton, Ohio. — Funeral services for Mrs. Metta Lehman Dean, 77, long-time staff member at Bluffton College and former missionary to China, were held Sept. 30 at the First Mennonite Church here.

Mrs. Dean's lifeless body was found in her Main Street home, where she lived alone, by her brothers Walter and Orlando Lehman and their wives of Berne, Ind. when they came to visit her on Sunday, Sept. 28. It is believed she had died several hours earlier of a heart attack.

A native of Berne, Mrs. Dean was a graduate of Bluffton College and served one term as a missionary to China. While on the Bluffton staff she served as dean of women and for many years as supervisor of the college dining hall. She retired seven years ago.
