KILLED UNDER TRAIN
Winkler, Man. — The 19 year old Walter DeFehr was crushed to death under a freight train one mile west of Winkler on March 24.
The youth was an orphan who immigrated in 1949 and had attended the Winkler high school until last Christmas. He lived with the Abr. Janzen family.

IMMIGRANT YOUTH, 19 KILLED BY TRAIN IN MANITOBA
Winkler, Manitoba. — Funeral services for Walter De Fehr, 19, a resident of Canada for only two years, were held at the Bergthaler church on March 27. The youth was instantly killed March 24 when struck by a frieght [sic] train mile west of Winkler.
Walter was born in Russia, and following the death of his parents, was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Abram Janzen. After spending some time in a German DP camp, they migrated heer [sic] in 1949. The youth was a student at the Winkler Collegiate.
