Two Dead, 14 Injured In Ohio and Indiana Highway Accidents

Sugarcreek, Ohio. — An 18-year-old Middlefield girl was fatally hurt and nine other persons suffered varying degrees of injury in a two-car crash at Middlefield on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 3.

Kathryn N. Troyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah Troyes of Orwell, O., died in the hospital about five hours after the accident. Funeral services were held Oct. 6.

The Troyer girl and six other young people were passengers in a car driven by Andrew J. Byler, 21, when it was hit broadside by a car driven by a Kingsville woman. Some of the other young people and the driver of the other car and her son were hospitalized. The Byler car was demolished.

Goshen, Ind. — A two-car collision at an intersection northwest of Nappanee on Saturday, Oct. 2, resulted in instant death for Mrs. Manford Davidhizar, 59, of rural Wakarusa and serious injuries to five other persons.

Admitted to the Elkhart hospital with serious had injuries were Mr. Davidhizar; Harley E. Yoder, 19, of rural Topeka, driver of the other car involved; Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Hochstetler, Jr. of rural Millersburg, and Joanna Hochstetler, 16, of rural Bremen, all passengers in Mr. Yoder's car.

Harley Yoder was reportedly in critical condition due to a skull fracture with brain damage.

Funeral services for Mrs. Davidhizar were held Oct. 6 at the First Christian Church of Wakarusa.
