MRS. SARAH [sic SARA] DALKE

The earthly life and ministry of Mrs. Sara (Unruh) Dalke came to its completion on Aug. 9, 1965, having reached the age of 78 years, seven months and 26 days.

She was born Oct. 13, 1886 to Henry D. and Susanna Unruh in Harvey County, Kan. On Aug. 18, 1908 she was married to John Penner Dalke, to whom were born two daughters and five sons. Her husband and one son Emil preceded her in death.

Early in life her aspirations were to become a missionary nurse. These plans, however strong, never came to fruition because of circumstances and lack of opportunities, but her personal desire became amplified in the lives of her family. As a Christian mother she faithfully taught her children the worth of the Word, and the value of public worship. The result was that three sons were drawn into the pastoral ministry and two daughters into vocational Christian service.

Since her husband's death in February 1952, Mrs. Dalke had lived alone in her comfortable little cottage at 611 Fairview Ave. in Dallas, Ore.

Her memorial service was held in the Grace Mennonite Church of Dallas with Rev. J. W. Flickinger and Rev. Henry Dalke officiating. Rev. Dalke, a son and the pastor of the Grace Brethren Church of San Diego, Calif., preached the funeral sermon. Interment was made at the Dallas cemetery, where the committal prayer was made by the Rev. P. D. Unruh, a brother of the deceased.

Surviving members of the family, all cherishing the memories of a godly and loving mother, are: Mary, Mrs. E. P. Krehbiel, and Susie, Mrs. A. V. Krehbiel, both of Omaha, Nebr., John O. Dalke of Santa Rosa, Calif., FeV. Dan Dalke of Bluffton, Ohio, Rev. Arnold Dalke of Azalea, Ore.; 25 grandchildfren and 25 great-grandchildren.
