Slain Missionaries Served by M.B. Workers
Hillsboro, Kan. — Two missionaries killed by cannibalistic natives in West Irian were personal friends of Mennonite Brethren missionaries, the James Andres'.
The Andres' serve under Missionary Aviation Fellowship on West Irian (formerly Dutch New Guinea), a large island just north of Australia.
'The missionaries, slain in September, had been exploring an area to find a suitable place for setting up an airstrip when they were ambushed by natives. They were Phil Master (USA) and Stanley Dale (Australia), serving under Regions Beyond Missionary Union.
The two men had stayed in the Andres home and obtained supplies through them.
Mr. and Mrs. Andres and their two-year-old son Richard plan to return to West Irian in April following furlough in the U. S. A. They are members of the Bethany M. B. Church, Fresno, Calif. The Andres' maintain MAF planes, operate a hostel, and provide supplies for missionaries.
