Night-Time Bomb Attack Kills Civil Rights Leader

At Hattiesburg, Miss., a Negro civil rights leader died when his home was destroyed in a nighttime bombing attack.

Fifty-eight-year-old Vernon Dahmer succumbed to his injuries several hours after the bombing. His 10-year-old daughter and his wife Ellie, 41, were injured.

Dahmer's home and a grocery store were burned to the ground. A stolen car riddled with shot was found near the scene of the attack. It was believed the night-riders abandoned it after Dahmer shot at them and punctured their tires.
