text of obituary:

Dahlem. — At the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Dahlem, in Summerfield, Ill., March 11, 1903, Emil G. Dahlem, aged 22 years, 9 months and 4 days. The funeral services were held at the Mennonite church Friday, March 13, at 2 p. m. Rev. C. Van der Smissen, assisted by Rev. H. Harmel, conducted the services. He was affected about one year ago with consumption and thought by a change of climate he might improve in health. Accordingly he left for California, but climatic change brought about no improvement. Seeing that he was constantly growing weaker and feeling the end approaching, he desired to be at his parents' home when he died. He arrived here Saturday morning, March 7. After being welcomed to his parental roof and seeing his relatives and friends once more, he died four days after his arrival. The loss of such a promising young man is sincerely mourned by all who knew him.
