Linda Ruth Slonaker Cowles, daughter of Lewis and Mary Ummel Slonaker, was born near Pulaski, Iowa on March 16, 1885. On Sept. 19, 1971 she passed away at the Washington Nursing Center in Washington, Ill. after a long period of failing health.

She was reared and educated in Davis County, Iowa, where she lived all of her life. On Feb. 19, 1908, she was married to Edward Cowles. Their four children survive: Frances Mosimann, Mackinaw, Ill.; Florence Wagler, Kirksville, Mo.; Victor Cowles, Pulaski, Iowa; and Mable Weaver, Washington, Ill.. She is survived also by her husband, eight grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, one sister, Lydia Clayton of Douds, Iowa, nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the Pulaski Mennonite Church most of her life. She was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Del Epp at the Wagler Funeral home on Sept. 22, 1971. Internment was in the Milton Cemetery.
