text of obituary:
RUBY EULALIA CORNELSON
Ruby Eulalia Cornelson, youngest daughter of Peter and Maria Schmidt, was born March 27, 1921, near Walton, Kansas and passed into the beyond on Oct. 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Wichita, Kansas.
She grew to womanhood at her parental home. She attended the Wareheim school in Marion County where she completed her first eight years of schooling.
On June 5, 1938, she was baptized by Rev. P. H. Richert upon the confession of her faith, having accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, and was received into the membership of the Tabor Mennonite Church of which she remained a member until her death.
Ruby graduated from Newton High school in 1940 and later attended Emporia Teachers’ College.
On Feb. 16, 1941, she united in marriage to Clifford H. Cornelson. This home was blessed with three children, two daughters, Barbara age 14, Janice age 12, and one son Kenneth age 9, who survive her and are greatly grieved by her early departure.
This home, like many others, was not spared the hardships of the war years. During the father’s lengthy service overseas Ruby patiently carried on the duties of the home. She had a cheerful and happy disposition and was loved by all who knew her. Her friends and relatives always found a warm welcome in her home. She was deeply concerned about the spiritual as well as the physical welfare of her family. At the time of her death she was a member of the Christian Home Makers Sunday School class of the First Mennonite Church, Newton.
Although her health was not always the best, she was critically ill only about ten days. She entered the Wichita Osteopathic Hospital on Oct. 3, where the doctors diagnosed her illness as cancer. Her condition grew worse rapidly, but she remained conscious nearly to the end. She appreciated the presence of her friends and loved ones at her bedside until she peacefully departed this earthly dwelling place to be with the Lord and Saviour whom she loved.
In addition to her husband and children, she also leaves her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Schmidt, Walton, Kansas; two sisters, Meletta (Mrs. Jacob Epp, Haysville, Kansas) and Luella (Mrs. Andrew Sheffler, Wichita, Kansas); and her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Cornelson, El Dorado, Kansas.
Although we will greatly miss her, we hope to join her in our Heavenly Home where there is no sorrow. — The Sorrowing Family.
