BERTHA SEIBEL CORNELSEN

Our loving wife and mother, Bertha Seibel Cornelsen, daughter of Charley and Charlotte Seibel was born near Fairview, Okla. on Feb. 6, 1901. Here she spent her childhood days and attended the elementary school.

As a young child she realized her lost condition without Jesus, and she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. In May 1917 she was baptized by Rev. J. B. Unruh and received into the Mennonite Brethren Church.

On Sept. 7, 1920, she entered into holy matrimony with Ted Cornelsen. This marriage which lasted 36 years seven months and 25 days was blessed with three children, two daughters and one son.

They spent the first years on a farm in the Fairview vicinity. Later they moved to Okeene, Okla. where they continued farming. In 1944 they moved to Lacy, Okla., where she became a member of the Eden Baptist church. In 1954, they moved to Lodi, Calif.

Our mother was kind and loving and showed us the true way of life by loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ. About two and one-half years ago she became ill. She spent much time in suffering and passed through the valley of real trials, but kept her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and lived in the hope of seeing Him some day. The last few weeks of her life were spent in the Lodi hospital where she was cared for especially by her youngest daughter, a nurse. However, her days apparently were up and on June 3, 1957, at 6:30 in the morning her heavenly Mater called her home. We weep at the sorrow that has befallen us but rejoice to believe that she is in the presence of the Lord. She reached the age of 55 years, four months and 27 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Ted Cornelson of Lodi, Calif.; three children, Lavada, Mrs. Mortimer of Palm Dale, Calif., Verlin, Mrs. Swinney of Lodi, and T. J. Cornelsen of Elk Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren; four brothers and four sisters, Charles Seibel of Peabody, Kansas, Fred Seibel of Enid, Okla., Immanuel Seibel of Colby, Kansas, H. H. Buchmiller of Lodi, Calif., Katie, Mrs. Delk of Balko, Okla., Hulda, Mrs. Janzen of Beaver City, Okla., Elma, Mrs. Kowslosky of Peabody, Kansas, Ruby, Mrs. Arbsland of Clearwater, Kansas.

Besides these there are many friends and relatives who stand by in this hour of sorrow. — The Family.
