CORNELIUS HEPPNER
Cornelius Heppner was born on December 23, 1894 in New York, South Russia. During the First World War, from 1914-17, he served in the Medical Corps. Following his marriage to Maria Janzen, they emigrated to Canada in 1926 and lived in Manitoba for a few years. In June 1927 he was baptized on his confession of faith by C. N. Hiebert in Gruenthal, Man.
They moved to British Columbia in 1930 where they farmed for some time. His wife died in 1959; also his oldest son Cornelius in the same year. He retired and moved to California where he lived for ten years. In 1970 he was married to Amalia Hamm.
He died in Leamington, Ontario on March 15, having suffered considerable pain at the last. He leaves to mourn his wife Amalia, three sisters and two brothers, seven children and many grandchildren. His sons Peter, Edward, and Henry; daughters, Anne (Mrs. Harry) Hooge, Mary (Mrs. Cecil) Smith, Betty (Mrs. Leo) Dueckman, and Irene (Mrs. Ernie) Taylor all reside in British Columbia.
