• The death of William Conrad, 59, at the home near Zimmerdale on Tuesday night, April 8, was ruled suicide by county officials. He was found hanging from the rafters of the garage near the basement of the unfinished home where he and Mrs. Conrad resided. The couple moved here from Wayland, Iowa in 1966 to secure medical and psychiatric help for Mr. Conrad. At the time of his death he was employed at the Foreman Mfg. Co. in Newton. Surviving in addition to his widow, Mabel, are three sons, four daughters, 18 grandchildren, and three sisters. Funeral services and burial took place on Saturday at Wayland.
