GREAT-GRANDMOTHER OF ILLINOIS COMMUNITY DIES AT AGE 83

Sterling, Ill. — Relatives and friends from several states attended funeral services at the Science Ridge Mennonite church here Feb. 4 for Mrs. Kathryn Conrad, 83, widow of C. M. Conrad. She died Feb. 1, a week after suffering a heart attack.

MRS. KATHRYN CONRAD

Mrs. Kathryn Conrad, 83, of 1616 West 4th St., Sterling, Ill., died at Home Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 1. She suffered a heart attack on Jan. 25 and passed away quietly in her sleep just one week later.

She was born June 16,1874, in Flanagan, Ill., the daughter of Daniel and Mary Orendorff. In 1900, she was united in marriage to C. M. Conrad in Flanagan. The family moved to Sterling in 1920 and have resided in this community since that time. Mrs. Conrad was a member of the Science Ridge Mennonite Church and the Women's Missionary Auxiliary Service.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. R. N. (Ida) Long, Mrs. George (Nora) Rigler, Miss Laura Conrad, all of Sterling, Mrs. Oliver (Eunice) Diller, Wooster, O., and Mrs. Clark (Gladys) Eberle, Columbus, O.; one son, Reuben, Arlington Heights, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Roeschler, Flanagan, Mrs. John (Emma) Conrad and Mrs. A. C. (Ada) Good, Sterling; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Conrad died in March 1954.

Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at the Science Ridge Mennonite Church with Rev. J. Frederick Erb officiating, assisted by Rev. Vernon Schertz of the West Sterling Mennonite Church. Relatives and friends from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa attended. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
