Mother, Daughter Fatally Injured

Harrisonburg, Va.— Injuries suffered May 28 in a two-car crash on Virginia 42 south of Harrisonburg claimed the lives of Mrs. James M. Coakley, 59, and her mother, Mrs. Josephine Burkholder, 80.

Funeral services for Mrs. Coakley were held May 31 at the Dayton Mennonite Church. The former Margaret Burkholder, she leaves her husband, one daughter and one son.

Mrs. Burkholder died at University Hospital in Charlottesville the day of her daughter's funeral. Services for her were held June 3.

Mrs. James Coakley, 59, was killed instantly June 4 when the car her husband was driving was struck by another car on Route 42 between Dayton and Harrisonburg. Mrs. Coakley‘s mother. Mrs. Josephine Burkholder, 80, was also a passenger in the car. She died at the University Hospital in Charlottesville the day of her daughter's funeral. She was the widow of Amos Burkholder of Harrisonburg. Mrs. Coakley's funeral was held at Dayton Mennonite church. One daughter. Betty Joe, and a son, Edward, survive. Mrs. Burkholder’s funeral and burial were held at Weavers Mennonite church near Harrisonburg. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jacob Batterman.
