EMC Student Fatally Injured in Fall From Silo near Lancaster
Harrisonburg, Va. — An Eastern Mennonite College student was fatally injured in a fall from a silo near Lancaster, Pa. on June 28.
W. Brent Clemens, who would have been a sophomore at EMC this fall, was working with the Weaver Star Silo Co. on a poured concrete silo at the farm of David B. Hess, Lancaster, Route 6.
According to reports, Clemens fell 80 feet inside the silo. He was admitted to the Lancaster General hospital at 7:10 p.m. where he died at 8:33 p.m.
Death was due to multiple fractures of the arms and legs and massive chest injuries.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Clemens, Milton, Pa.
At EMC, he was a member of the varsity basketball and track teams.
Funeral services were held at the Beaver Run Mennonite church, Watsontown, Pa. where he was a member.
