Carl J. Claassen, 90, of rural Whitewater, died Jan. 10 at his home. Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at Emmaus Mennonite Church, rural Whitewater, with Rodney Crowell officiating. He was a retired farmer, lifelong resident of the Whitewater area and former member of the Bethel College board of directors. Survivors include one son, Milton A. Claassen, M. D., of Newton; one daughter, Virginia of Japan; two brothers, Ernest and Arnold of Whitewater; five sister, Martha Wiebe, Esther Wiebe, Elsie Claassen, Hilda Entz and Edna Regier of Whitewater; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

NEWTON & VICINITY

Carl J. Claassen, 90, of rural Whitewater, died Jan. 10 at his home. Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at Emmaus Mennonite Church, rural Whitewater, with Rodney Crowell officiating. He was a retired farmer, lifelong resident of the Whitewater area and former member of the Bethel College board of directors. Survivors include one son, Milton A. Claassen, M.
