● Funeral services for John P. Claassen, 83, were conducted last Friday afternoon at the First Mennonite Church with Dr. Albert Epp in charge. Mr. Claassen died June 22 at the Bethel Home for Aged where he was a resident. He was born in Newton and lived here all his life, formerly making his home on East third Street. He had been a member of the First church since 1911. Surviving are one sister, Helen A. Richert, and a brother, Ted E. Claassen, both of Newton.
