JOHN CHRISTNER

John Christner, son of Christian C. and Barbara Gunden Christner, was born Jan. 3, 1885 at Wayland, Iowa, and passed away Nov. 24, 1962, at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa where he had been a patient about two weeks.

He had been a faithful member of the Wayland Mennonite church since his baptism in 1907, serving in various capacities of the church.

His entire life was spent in the Wayland community.

On Feb. 19, 1908, he was married to Della McNabb at Wayland. She survives as does one daughter, Mrs. Emerson (Ruth) Wittrig of Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs. Katie R. Wenger of Wayland; one grandson, John Wittrig of Lascassas, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by one foster sister, Mrs. Mary Martin.

Services were held at the Wayland Mennonite Church Monday afternoon, Nov. 26. Rev. Omer Nisley of the Wayland Mennonite Church and Rev. E. C. Schumacker of the Fern Cliff Evangelical Free Church were in charge. Final resting place was in the North Hill Cemetery
