SON OF ILLINOIS MINISTER INSTANTLY KILLED IN CRASH
Metamora, Ill. — A highway crash 35 miles east of Gridley in the early morning hours on Monday, June 23, claimed the lives of two young men. Instantly killed was Roger Calhoun, 18 year old son of Rev. Ivan Calhoun, pastor of the Evangelical Mennonite church at Gridley. William K. Hirschman, 20, of Woodlawn, N. Y. died in a hospital some hours later.
Young Calhoun and a companion, Earl Klein of Gridley, had left home on a vacation trip to New York City when their car crashed into the side of a semi-trailer traveling in the opposite direction. The Hirschman youth, a serviceman, was hitchhiking and had caught a ride with them.
