Dies Suddenly Three Days After Ordination
New Wilmington, Pa. — Jacob W. Byler, 33, died in the basement of his home in the Amish settlement here on May 12, only three days after his ordination to the ministry.
He was working with pipes leading into the cistern when he collapsed and fell into it. It is thought he suffered a heart attack or was overcome by fumes, as very little water was found in his lungs.
His wife and four children are among the survivors.
