CARL [KARL] BUXMAN

Carl [Karl] Buxman was born Nov. 14, 1879 to Peter and Kathrina (Eifenbein [sic Heifenbein]) Buxman in the village of Wiesemueller [sic Wiesenmueller] in the Volga area in Russia. Here he spent his youth and received his education.

On May 9, 1900, he was united in holy matrimony with Maria Weber of Brunnenthal [sic Brunnental], Russia. In 1902 they migrated to America, settling first in Oklahoma, near Okeene, and a year later moved to Colorado where they lived for about 25 years — homesteading in the northern part of the state and later in the more central and fertile farming area near Windsor and Johnstown.

Twelve children were born to them, five of whom preceded them in death.

Unde the deeply spiritual ministry of his pastor and the inspiration of our mother's prayers and consistent Christian life, father came to realize his own lost condition and accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 1909. On July 2, 1922, our parents and three of their oldest children were baptized by immersion in confession of their faith and joined the Mennonite Brethren Church at Loveland, Colo., later Johnstown.

In 1932 they moved to Reedley, Calif., where they farmed for another 30 years. Here they transferred their membership to the Reedley M. B. Church and were faithful for the remainder of their lives. In 1950 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Soon after that (April 23, 1954) our mother, at the age of 75, suffered a heart attack and passed on to her reward in glory. On Oct. 27, 1954, father married Amelia Schmidt of Lincoln, Neb., who survives him, and as an invalid is presently being cared for in a local rest home.

He expressed many times during the last few weeks of his life a sincere desire to be with Christ and to be reunited with his loved ones in heaven. His earnest prayer was granted to him as he quietly slipped away to be with his Lord on the morning of Feb. 5, 1964, at 1:30. He reached the age of 84 years, two months and 21 days.

Those remaining to mourn his passing are his widow, Amelia Buxman; seven children: Marie [Maria], Mrs. M. A. Evins; Katherine, Mrs. W. W. Wiest; Sam Buxman; Esther, Mrs. Henry Wiest; Albert, Bill, and Fred Buxman; three sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law; 21 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Buxman of Greely, Colo., one sister, Mary [Maria] Mohn of Hillsboro, Kan., one brother-in-law, Emanuel Weber of Denver, Colo., and many friends and relatives.

The memorial service was held in the Mennonite Brethren Church, Reedley, Calif., on Feb. 10, with Rev. Dan Friesen officiating. — The Family.
