Prominent Business, Civic Leader Dies
Smoketown, Pa. — W. Scott Bushong, prominent business and civic leader of the Rohrerstown area, died at his home there oct. 25 at the age of 80. He had been a member of the Landisville Mennonite church for 58 years.
Following his marriage to the former Alice Miller, he joined his father-in-law, the late Henry C. Miller, to form the Miller and Bushong firm. The company pioneered in production of improved grades of feed for poultry and farm livestock. Later a lumber mill was added.
Mr. Bushong was a charter member and president of the First National Bank of Landisville and former director of the East Hempfield Township School Board. Last April he and his wife observed their 60th wedding anniversary. She survives with one daughter, Mrs. Chester Graybill, and three grandsons.
