PETER G. BUSCHMAN
Peter G. Buschman, the son of Peter H. and Emilia Glied Buschman, was born on Sept. 28, 1885, in Marion County, Kansas. Here he made his home with his parents until the age of nine, when they moved to Weatherford, Okla. At the age of 14 he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized upon his confession of faith. He united with the K. M. B. Church of Weatherford, Okla.
On Feb. 20, 1906, he was married to Mary Kroeker. This union, which lasted 63 years, seven months, and 12 days, was blessed with four children. Two of them preceded father in death, Marie at the age of nine months and Ernest at the age of 55.
They made their first home on a farm near Weatherford, Okla. Here they worked hard to earn a living from tilling the soil. After spending a year in British Columbia, they moved back to Oklahoma in 1919. In 1928 they moved to Western Kansas. In 1945 they came to Dinuba, Calif. where they lived until 1962, when they came to Shafter to make their home in Kern Crest Manor.
Our father worked hard all his life but always had time for church and the things of God. He was very punctual in leading the family devotions and seeking to train his family in the things of God. One of the special joys of his life was seeing one of his children go out to serve to [sic] Lord on foreign soil as a missionary.
Though father enjoyed comparatively good health most of his days, the last years he became rather weak and needed physical assistance. He spent some time in a convalescent home in Bakersfield and when the Shafter Convalescent Hospital was opened, he came to share a room there. On Thursday morning, Oct. 3 he heard the call, "Come up higher," and his soul left to be with the Lord. He reached the age of 84 years and four days.
Those who remained to mourn his departing are his wife, Mrs. Mary Buschman of Shafter; one daughter, Mrs. Oliver Neufeld of Shafter; one son, Frank of Hutchinson, Kan.; four brothers, Henry Robert, David and Herman, all of Michigan; thee sisters, Emelia Gossier and Anna Yoder of Michigan, and Caroline Harder of Florida; two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. — The Family.
