MOSES M. BURKHOLDER
Moses M. Burkholder, son of Moses and Anna (Miller) Burkholder, was born Jan. 25,1872, near Nappanee, Indiana; died June 19, 1957, at Los Angeles, Calif., aged 85 years, four months and 24 days. Death occurred at his home where he had been bedfast for nine months.
His entire life was dedicated to His Saviour and his church, and he has gone to the reward he so richly deserved and for which he so long prepared. He was a member of the Calvary Mennonite Church, Los Angeles, at the time of his death and the funeral services were held in the Calvary Mennonite Church on June 22, 1957. Interment was in the Inglewood cemetery.
He was united in marriage with Rosina Bacher on March 9, 1890, at Nappanee, Indiana, and this union was blessed with nine children: Sarah (Mrs. John Burkey, Beaver Crossing, Neb.); Joseph, Tofield, Alberta; Mary (Mrs. Abram Weber, Preston, Ontario); David, Duchess, Alberta; Daniel, John and Anna (Mrs. Marlin Brubaker) all of duchess, Alberta; Levi, West Unity, Ohio; Moses (deceased). In 1892 he left Indiana and moved to Hubbard, Ore. and in 1910 to Albany, Ore., then in 1913 to Tofield, Alberta, Canada. In 1927 he moved to Los Angeles, Calif.
On May 1,1923, Rosina Burkholder died and on Dec.6,1927, he was married to Anna (Megert) Burkholder of Elverson, Pa. in Los Angeles, where both attended the Calvary Mennonite Church until his death and where Anna Burkholder now resides.
Besides his wife, he is survived by eight of his children, 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three brothers — John of Portland, Ind., Daniel of Centreville, Mich., and Dave of Nappanee, Ind., and two sisters — Mrs. Catherine Miller of Centreville, Mich., and Mrs. Emma Miller of Bremen, Ind.
Funeral services were in charge of John D. Zehr, pastor of the Calvary Mennonite Church.
