ANNA MARY BURKHOLDER

Anna Mary Burkholder was forn in Mt. Clinton, Va. to Solomon F. and Rebecca Geil Burkholder on Aug. 5, 1874; passed from this life to her eternal home Sunday morning, April 22, 1956, age 81 years, eight months and 17 days.

She suffered from a hip ailment due to an injury when she was eight years old, which developed into ankylosis of the hip and arthritis of the hip- and spine. Her death was caused by leukemia and she was bedfast 18 weeks. Although much afflicted she had a keen interest in life and bravely maintained an attitude of doing what she could, patiently and cheerfully.

Her father died when she was a few years old. Her mother married S. E. Rhodes and Anna Mary remained a cheerful member of this family, where she is greatly missed. Her death also is mourned by her many cousins and friends.

She leaves two step-brothers, Amos W. Rhodes of la Junta, Colo. and Bishop S. H. Rhodes of Harrisonburg, Va., three step-sisters, Anna Rhodes Brunk of Low Point, Ill., Ada F. Rhodes and Ella S. Rhodes, both of Harrisonburg.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at mt. Clinton Mennonite Church, of which she had been a faithful member since early girlhood. Services were conducted by Bishop D. W. Lehman, assisted by C. K. Lehman and Oliver M. Keener. The text used was, "She hath done what she could," Mark 14:8. A song that was precious to her, "I Need not Cross Jordan Alone," was sung at the graveside.

Interment was made in the church cemetery.
