MRS. AMANDA BURKHOLDER

Mrs. Amanda Burkholder, 88, died Feb. 25, 1967 at Glendora Nursing Home where she had been a patient since breaking her hip five years ago.

She was born in Orrville, Ohio March 8, 1878 to Fred and Catherine Schrock Wenger.

She had been a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville, since her youth, and lived in that vicinity for many years.

Her husband, Elmer, was cashier of the Smithville Bank until his death in 1934. Since that time she had been a practical nurse and won many friends by her winsome smile and sacrificial life.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hostetler of Orrville and Mrs. Eva McFadden of LaVerne, Calif.; three sons, Forest of Smithville, Virgil of Orrville, and Ordon [sic Gordon] of Marshallville; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother Levi J. Wenger of Wooster; and a foster sister, Elida Mae Patience of Miami, Fla. A son Raymond and a sister died previously.

Funeral services were conducted Feb. 27 at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church by Rev. Lotus Troyer. Grandsons were pallbearers.
