His childhood days were spent on a farm with his parents near Moundridge, Kansas, where he met Miss Annie Schultz and was united with her in marriage November 4, 1896, with whom he shared joy and sorrow for over 42 years.
To this union were born two children, one son and one daughter.
In March 1900 with his family he moved to Major Co., Oklahoma. Here he has resided at various places.
At the age of 30 he was converted and baptized and joined the Mennonite church.
He has been in poor health for 3 years. During these years he has in a special way felt the loving kindness of his Savior and has often said that he was ready to meet Him.
At 7 o'clock p.m., March 13, 1939, he was stricken by a paralytic stroke, and without regaining consciousness he died march 14, at 6 a.m.
At his bedside was his wife, son and wife and family, one sister and her family.
He leaves to mourn his loss: his beloved wife, son Jacob, his wife and children and two children of his daughter Mable [sic Mabel] (Mrs. John B. Unruh) who preceded him in death May 3,1936.
Besides his immediate family he leaves 9 grandchildren, 2 having also preceded him in death. One brother Henry of Meno, Oklahoma, two sisters: Susie (Mrs. Ben Decker) Enid, Oklahoma, and Eva (Mrs Emil Decker) of Meno, Okla., and also a host of other friends and relatives.
