JACOB J. BULLER

Jacob J. Buller was born to Jacob and maria Schmidt Buller on August 30, 1876, near Goessel, Kansas. He attended schools near Goessel and attended the Bethel College Academy, Newton, Kansas, for three years. For 17 years he taught school in the area.

He was baptized upon his confession of faith on Pentecost Sunday in 1896 by his father, Rev. Jacob Buller, and received into the membership of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite church near Goessel. When the Goessel Mennonite church was organized, he was one of the charter members, being active in Sunday School and church work.

On April 22,1899, he was married to Helen Woelk. She was called to her heavenly home on Jan. 23, 1923. He was married to Helen Hiebert on Dec. 20, 1925.

The family moved from Kansas to the Reedley, Calif. area in 1936, and from Reedley to Fresno in 1949. Mr. Buller became one of the charter members of the Mennonite Community Church when it was organized in November 1954.

Mr. Buller suffered a coronary thrombosis one year ago, when he was hospitalized for some time. He regained some strength, but since then his health had been failing gradually.

Friday afternoon, Dec. 21, his pilgrimage on this earth was ended when he entered into his heavenly home. He reached the age of 80 years and almost four months.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Buller, of Fresno; nine sons, Arthur of Orange Cove, Calif., Leonard, Ernest, and Hugo of Newton,Kansas, Arnold of Reedley, Calif., Otto, Willard, Vernon and David of Fresno; two daughters, Hilda, Mrs. John Unruh of Shafter, and Selma, Mrs. Milton Doell of Gallup, New Mexico; one sister, Sarah Buller of Goessel, Kansas; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Four children, Mary, Waldo, Eldon, and Linda (Mrs. Art Heidebrecht) preceded him in death.

While the family will miss the departed one they rejoice in the assurance that he now dwells in the heavenly home.
