Mrs. Helena Buller

Our mother Helena Buller, nee Kroeker, was born September 28, 1849, in the village Rosenort, South Russia. Her childhood and early youth she spent in the home of her parents, Frank and Maria, nee Unruh, Kroeker.

In 1877 she came to America with her parents, two sisters, Susanne and maria, and two half-brothers, Gerhard and Cornelius Wall, who settled near Hillsboro, Marion Co., Kansas.

On Pentecost, 1858, she was baptized upon confesion [sic] of faith by Elder Toews and united with the Lichtenaur Menn. church. Here in America she joined the Brudertal church near Hillsboro and on Feb. 1902, she transferred her membership to the Hillsboro Mennonite church, whose faithful member she remained to her end. On Sept. 16, 1894, she was united in marriage to our father Heinrich Buller, and took upon herself the duties of a mother to his 4 children. One of these children, Mrs. Anna Dalke, has passed to her reward. She lived in matrimony 26 years until our father preceded her in death on June 28, 1920. On Jan. 4, 1926, she was brought to the Bethesda Home for the Aged at Goessel, Kansas, where she was taken care of for the rest of her life. About two years ago she fell and injured her right hip, from which she never recovered sufficiently to be able to walk. She shared her room with Miss Justina Warkentin for six years and one month. This last summer her health was failing, until death overtook her quietly on Nov. 4 at 3:20 A. M She is taken from us to be with her Lord, whom she loved and trusted. She reached the age of 83 years, one month and seven days. She leaves to mourn her children, Mrs. Helena Penner, Henry Buller, Mrs. Mary Millsop, and many friends.
