— A resident of Newton for the past 16 years, David Buller, passed away at the Axtell Christian hospital on Sunday evening at the age of 78. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Mennonite church, Rev. D. J. Unruh officiating. Mr. Buller had farmed east of Buhler before moving to Newton. He is survived by his wife, Katherine, three sons and three daughters. A daughter, Miss Linda Buller, is a missionary to Colombia, S. A.

DAVID BULLER

David Buller was born in South Russia, March 17, 1872, and passed away October 17, 1948, at the age of 76 years and seven months. In 1875, at the age of three, he came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David J. Buller, to America, where they settled in Reno county, Kansas, four miles east of Buhler.

In 1884 he was baptized on his confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour and was received as a member into the Hoffnungsau church.

In the year 1899 he was united in marriage to Katherine Unruh. They lived together 49 years five months and 13 days. To this union were born eight children. Two daughters, Anna and Tina, died in infancy.

In 1920 he transferred his church membership to the Buhler Mennonite church, where he became active in Christian work. In 1932 he moved his family to Newton, Kansas and March 13, 1944, transferred his membership to the First Mennonite church.

He was a kind and loving husband and a good father, a man who loved his wife, his children and his grandchildren, and made many friends during his lifetime. He was a lover of music and some of his favorite songs were sung at his funeral service.

Last winter Mr. Buller had the misfortune to fall on the ice and injure his shoulder and ankle, which did not seem to heal and became extremely painful. In July his health began to fail rapidly, and on September 11 he was admitted to the Axtell Christian hospital, where he remained until his death.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. David Buller, and the following children; David, Newton; Sara, Mrs. Harry Mitzner, Wichita; Emma, Mrs. Arthur Frey, Newton; Linda, Colombia, South America; Leonard, Newton, and Albert of Wichita. Also surviving are two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and eight grandchildren.

A short service for members of the family was held at the home, 320 South Walnut, at 12:30 p. m. on Wednesday, October 20, 1948. Funeral services were held at the First Mennonite church, Newton, Kansas, at 1:00 o'clock. Rev. D. J. Unruh, Rev. J. E. Entz and Rev. A. J. Dyck were in charge. A male quartet, composed of Eldon Buller, Willard Entz, Herman Regier and Edwin Regier sang "My God and I," "Hold Thou My Hand," and "Going Down The Valley," Several favorite selections were played by Miss Louise Entz at the piano and Miss Doris Andres at the organ.

Pallbearers were Herbert Buller, Jacob Voth, Peter Wall, John G. Unruh, Curt Janzen and Jacob Wiens.

Interment was made in the family lot at Hope View cemetery, near Buhler, Kansas, by Rex M. Moody of the Moody's Funeral Home.
