text of obituary:
MRS. ANNA BULLER OF BUHLER, FATALLY BURNED
June 19. — Mrs. Anna Buller, 28 years of age, wife of Herman Buller living two miles northeast of Buhler, died last night at a local hospital from burns received when she attempted to start a fire at the home of her father, Jacob Schroeder, two miles southwest of town, shortly after 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon with kerosene.
Mrs. Buller was spending the afternoon with her parents, while her husband had gone to Hutchinson on a business errand. The neighbors who rushed her to the hospital met the husband on the road and he came with her.
Boy’s Condition Serious.
A younger brother, Walter Schrader [sic Schroeder], 10 years old, is in the hospital also seriously burned but the doctors hope to save his life. Two other children, Lavina and Emma Schrader [sic Schroeder] were burned about the hands but were able to return home last night. The Schrader [sic Schroeder] home was burned to the ground and nothing saved except the clothing the family had on at the time.
The father, Jacob Schrader [sic Schroeder] was sitting in an adjoining room to the kitchen when his daughter and the three young children went into the kitchen to get the evening meal. Suddenly there was an explosion and Mrs. Buller rushed into the room where her father was, her clothing ablaze. Mr. Schrader threw water over his daughter, extinguishing the flames but not until most of her clothing was burned off her body.
Raise Purse For Family.
Mrs. Buller is survived by her husband, her parents and six brothers and sisters. No funeral arrangements had been made this morning.
The town of Buhler has shown what true neighborliness is. Early this morning when the news spread over the town of the serious trouble Mr. Schroeder was in, no home, a daughter dead and a son lying at the point of death, the business men got busy. In a short time a purse of over $250 was raised with others still to be seen and calls went out over the country telephone lines asking for aid to help Mr. Schroeder temporarily.
