Lancaster, Pa. — The weekend camping trip of eight young men from the Elizabethtown area ended tragically on June 6 when LeRoy D. Brenneman drowned in Big Pine Creek in Lycoming County.

The youths were swimming in the stream on Saturday evening, June 6, when young Brenneman went under. His companions were unable to save him because of the deep, swiftly flowing waters. The body was recovered at about 10:30 p.m.

LeRoy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brenneman of Route 2, Elizabethtown, and had graduated from Lower Dauphin High School on the Tuesday before his sudden death. Funeral services were conducted at the Millersville Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

Survivors in addition to the parents include a brother Phares of Millersville, and a brother Douglas and sisters Nancy and Marlene of the home.

Pennsylvania Youth Drowns on Camping Trip

Lancaster, Pa. — The weekend camping trip of eight young men from the Elizabethtown area ended tragically on June 6 when LeRoy D. Brenneman drowned in Big Pine Creek in Lycoming County.

The youths were swimming in the stream on Saturday evening, June 6, when young Brenneman went under. His companions were unable to save him because of the deep, swiftly flowing waters. The body was recovered at about 10:30 p.m.

LeRoy was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brenneman of Route 2, Elizabethtown, and had graduated from Lower Dauphin High School on the Tuesday before his sudden death. Funeral services were conducted at the Millersville Mennonite Church, of which he was a member.

Survivors in addition to the parents include a brother Phares of Millersville, and a brother Douglas and sisters Nancy and Marlene of the home.
