MARY BRENNEMAN
Mary Hershberger Brenneman, daughter of Emanuel and Lydia Shetler Hershberger, was born in Johnson County, Iowa, on Sept. 1, 1874, and died at her home in Kalona on July 27, 1967, aged 92 years, 10 months and 26 days. On Dec. 22, 1892 she was married to William D. Brenneman, with whom she shared life's joys and sorrows for over 68 years. He passed away on March 18, 1961.
The last of a family of 10, she is survived by two daughters, Alma and Alta, Mrs. Ora Keiser, and one son, Clark, all of Kalona. Other survivors include four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, and was always eager to attend when strength afforded. In addition to her spiritual concerns, she always had a great desire to be useful in life and to give to others.
She will be remembered for her many small gifts to her friends. "She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed." Prov. 31: 28, 29. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Psalms 116:15.
