ALPHEUS N. BRENNEMAN

Alpheus N. Brenneman, 77, of Route 1, Elida, Ohio, died in Memorial Hospital at Lima, Ohio on Nov. 18, 1969.

Born April 22, 1892 in Elida, he was the son of Moses and Mary Stemen Brenneman. He was married to Ellen B. Landis of Lancaster, Pa. on June 2, 1906, and she survives. Also surviving are two sisters. Misses Martha J. Brenneman and Mary E. Brenneman, both of Elida.

He was a member of Central Mennonite Church, Elida, and a retired farmer.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in the Central Church, with Walter Smeltzer officiating. Burial was made in Salem Cemetery.

Couple Leave Large Bequest to Several Church Organizations

Elkhart, Ind. (MBMC). — Mennonite Board of Missions recently received partial distribution of a bequest in the amount of $130,307 from the estate of Alpheus and Ellen (Landis) Brenneman of Elida, Ohio.

For several years before Mr. Brenneman's death in November 1969 the couple had been in communication with the Mennonite Foundation regarding their estate planning, and were considering giving one of their farms as an annuity gift.

In January 1970, after Mr. Brenneman's death, a 77-acre farm valued at $46,000 was deeded to the Mennonite Foundation as an annuity gift. The gift was announced and dedicated at the Central Mennonite Church, Elida, Ohio, where the Brennemans were members.

Mrs. Brenneman died Nov. 7, 1970. The couple had no children.

When the Foundation liquidates the above mentioned farm, its cash value and the $130,307 will be distributed according to the Brennemans' wishes. The major portion is designated for Mennonite Board of Missions programs, and the remainder for the MCC, Ohio and Eastern District Mission Board and Sunshine Children's Home, Maumee, Ohio, which is administered by the Health and Welfare Division of the Mission Board.
