M. F. BOYTS

M. F. (Monie) Boyts, son of Edward and Lydia Boyts, was born Sept. 10, 1878, near Goshen, Ind. He departed this life May 21, 1956, death resulting from a heart attack which was of about an hour's duration. He was 77 years, eight months and 11 days of age at the time of his death.

As a boy he moved with his parents from Indiana to McPherson, Kansas, where he grew to young manhood. His next location was in the territory of Oklahoma, before Oklahoma became a state, where he lived in the community around Jet.

On Oct. 7, 1901, he was united in marriage to Mahala Troyer. To this union six children were born: Ernest E., Seymour, Mo.; Ferne (Mrs. Harve Yoder), Crystal Springs, Kansas; Earl of Harper, Kansas; Roy of Harper; Faye Boyts Yoder, who departed this life in 1935; and Mayme (Mrs. David Yoder), Crystal Springs, Kansas.

He has gone to await the homecoming of his companion, Mahala, his five children, 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Simon Smith of Goshen, Ind. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

During the last thirty years of his life he resided in the Crystal Springs, Kansas, community. During this period he became well known and loved by his friends and neighbors as he worked at the carpenter trade and bought grain for milling and elevator companies.

As a young man he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Milan Valley Mennonite church near Jet, Okla. While living in the Crystal Springs community he has been a loyal member of the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church. His faithful attendance in church services and his interest in the work of the Lord and His Church were a source of inspiration to his pastor and to many other who lived and worshiped God with him.

Funeral services were held May 24, 1956, at the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church. Alvin D. Kauffman, his pastor officiated, assisted by Wilbert Nafziger. Music was furnished by a male quartet. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
