MAHALA TROYER BOYTS
Mahala Troyer Boyts, daughter of Noah and Elizabeth Troyer, was born August 11, 1883, near Goshen, ind. She departed this life Jan. 31, 1961, following a prolonged illness, age 77 years, five months, 20 days.
When a girl she moved with her parents from Indiana to McPherson, Kansas, where she grew to young womanhood. Her next location was in the territory of Oklahoma, before Oklahoma became a state, where she lived near Jet. During the last 35 years of her life she resided in the Crystal Springs, Kansas, community.
On Oct. 7, 1901, she was united in marriage to M. F. (Monie) Boyts. Six children blessed this union of whom five survive: Ernest E. of Seymour, Mo., Roy and Earl of Harper, Kansas, Ferne (Mrs. Harve Yoder) and Mayme (Mrs. David Yoder) of Crystal Springs, Kansas.
Her companion, Monie, preceded her in death on May 21, 1956. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Faye Boyts Yoder, one grandson, Max Yoder, six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Comins, of Mio, Mich., and Mrs. Maude Griffin of Glen Carbon, Ill.
As a young woman she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Milan Valley Mennonite Church near Jet, Okla. During her years in the Crystal Springs community she held membership in the Crystal Springs Mennonite Church, of which she was a faithful and devoted member. She enjoyed her fellowship with the Lord and was in attendance at worship services whenever her health permitted.
Funeral services were conducted Feb. 2 at the Crystal Springs church, with Alvin Kauffman officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. — The Family.
