MRS. ANNA BORN

Anna, beloved wife of Peter Born, was born to Peter and Anna Petker on November 24, 1906 in Alisowo, Russia. There she grew up, attended the village school, and accepted Christ as Saviour in her youth. After baptism she joined the Mennonite Church. In July, 1925 she married Peter Born, and the following year they moved to Canada.

They settled first in Coaldale, Alta., moved to Manitoba for four years, and in 1930 returned to Coaldale. In 1938 they moved to another farm at Vauxhall, Alta., their home until retirement in Vauxhall in 1974. The Lord blessed the Borns with nine children.

During her lifetime she experienced many hardships, including poverty and separation from loved ones in Russia, but also many blessings. Her garden gave her much satisfaction and songs of faith spoke of an inner strength and unwavering confidence. The couple's golden anniversary in 1975 was a highlight.

Declining health marked her last year. Cancer was diagnosed in March.

On July 6 she was released from her suffering and went to be with the Lord. The funeral service was held July 10 at the Vauxhall Mennonite Brethren Church with Rev. Henry Unruh officiating.

She is mourned by her loving husband, Peter; four daughters, Anna (Mrs. Peter) Petkau, Helen (Mrs. Isaac) Klassen, Mary (Mrs. Dan) MacPherson, and Nellie (Mrs. Gerhard) Reimer; four sons and their wives, Peter and Mary, Isaac and Betty, John and Doris, and Jake and Annette; 30 grandchildren; one sister, Sara, and other relatives in Russia; and many relatives and friends.
