Accidents Near Goshen Claim Two Lives
YOUNG FATHER, 60-YEAR-OLD FARMER KILLED IN SEPARATE MISHAPS
Goshen, Ind. — Two separate accidents last week claimed the lives of Paul K. Hoover, 60-year-old farmer of Route 3, Goshen, and Levi M. Bontrager, 30, of Route 1, Middlebury. Two other fatal accidents near Elkhart raised Elkhart county's 1960 traffic death toll to 30.
Mr. Hoover was crushed to death Nov. 25 when he apparently fell into the path of a wagon-load of corn as it was being backed into a large crib. He was caught under a rear wheel of the wagon.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, with Rev. Virgil Brenneman officiating.
Mr. Bontrager, employed as a mechanic at a Goshen factory, was en route home the evening before Thanksgiving when his car went into a deep ditch near here and crashed into a steel culvert. He died instantly.
Funeral services were held at the Middlebury Mennonite Church on Nov. 26. Rev. Wilbur Yoder and Rev. David Bontrager in charge. Survivors include his wife and five-year-old daughter.
