TOBIAS MARTIN BOESE

Tobias M. Boese, son of Martin and Kathryn Schultz Boese, was born May 4,1881, at Springfield, So. Dak. He went to be with his Savior and Lord on Oct. 5, 1957, in Intercession City, Florida. He was 76 years, five months and one day old. As far as we know he had never suffered any heart ailment, but was stricken with an acute attack at 11:30 a. m. and passed away in the Kissimmee Hospital at 2:10 p. m.

When a young man he gave his heart to the Lord and prepared himself for Christian work. He attended Bluffton College and Moody Bible Institute, as well as three years in BIOLA, Los Angeles, graduating in the class of 1923. He spent several years organizing Sunday Schools in South Dakota and Nebraska under the American Sunday School Union.

He first went to Florida in 1944 and was active in the Cumberland Church in Tampa. It was there he met his wife, Miss Sylvia Bancroft. He was an elder and men's Bible class teacher at the time. They were married Oct. 15, 1949, and lived in Tampa two years and in Port Orchard, Wash., three years, returning to Florida to make their home in Intercession City.

Here he was engaged in work for the Central Florida Bible Institute and the large Christian Hotel. He is mourned by the whole community who knew him as a quiet, helpful assistant in all the activities of the town. Many have remarked that he was one of the kindest, sweetest men in town, and loved by everyone. He spent time every morning and evening with his Bible. Although we will miss him greatly, he is with the redeemed in glory, and with the Psalmist we say, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his wife, Sylvia Boese, Intercession City, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn McNeeley of Minneapolis, Minn., and Emma, Mrs. Henry Ewert of Reedley, Calif.; one brother, Peter, of Saginaw, Mich.; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Oct. 8 in Morrison Memorial Church, Intercession City, and he was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Kissimmee.
