SUSIE BOESE

Susie (Abrahams) Boese was born July 6, 1882 in McPherson County, Kansas to Jacob and Anna (Flaming) Abrahams. Here she received her elementary education and grew to womanhood.

When mother was 16 years old the responsibility of caring for seven younger brothers and sisters fell on her shoulders, when her mother passed away.

She was baptized May 20, 1902 by Elder Peter Balzer and remained a member of the Hoffnungsau Church near Inman, Kan. until her death.

On May 7, 1910 she was married to Jacob H. Boese near Inman. In 197 they moved to Beaver County, Oklahoma, three miles east of Turpin. Here they enjoyed farm life until 1949 when they moved to a residence in Liberal, Kan. In 1959 they moved to Turpin. Here our parents were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960.

In March 1961 mother became very ill and spent several weeks in the Beaver Hospital. She entered the Beaver County Nursing Home on April 26, 1961. This was her home the past six years. On April 1, 1964 father passed away.

She filled her days listening to Gospel programs on the radio. She spent much time reading her Bible, a gift from her decease brother, J. J. Abrahams.

On April 16 she became ill and entered the hospital. On April 29 she peacefully went to be with her Lord, reaching the age of 84 years, nine months and 23 days.

She leaves to mourn three daughters and one son, Linda (Mrs. George Plett), Mary Ann (Mrs. Aldo Becker), Henry, and Mildred (Mrs. John Schultz), and their companions; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kathrine Klassen, Downey, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Hiebert, Newport, Wash; two brothers, Curt Abrahams, Hillsboro, Kan., and George Abrahams, Newton, Kan.

Funeral services were conducted May 2 from the Turpin Mennonite Church by Rev. Kenneth Rupp and Rev. Don Plett.
