— Rev. Curt D. Boese of Walton received word that his father, P. F. Boese, died Monday, March 21, in Denver, Colo. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday afternoon at the Church of the Brethren in Wiley Colo., with burial in the Wiley cemetery. Mr. Boese was born in Germany on July 2, 1880. He was a garageman at Buhler for many years, the family moving to a farm near Lamar, Colo. in 1928. His wife, three sons, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. In addition to Rev. Boese, he is survived by two other sons, Jake D. of Lamar and Henry D. of Wiley; two brothers, Andrew of Hillsboro and George of Buhler; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Peter F. Boese, a son of Andrew and Helen (Fast) Boese, was born on July 2, 1880 in Russia. At the age of five he came to America with his parents and settled in Marion county, Kansas, where he received his education in an elementary school.

In 1901 he accepted Christ as his Saviour. He was baptized and received into the Mennonite Church near Inman, Kansas.

He was united in holy matrimony with Katie Dick on June 17, 1900, and moved to Buhler, Kansas. To this union were born six sons and one daughter. In 1929 they moved to Lamar, Colo., where he took up farming besides his carpenter work. The parents were privileged to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 1950 in the Church of the Brethren.

He was a quiet type of person and especially loved music; he played most any kind of an instrument. He was a devoted father who dearly loved and cared for his family.

Those who mourn his sudden departure are his children, three sons and one daughter, C. D. of Walton, Kansas, Jake D. of Lamar, Henry D. of Wiley and Mrs. Frieda Schwartz of Wiley; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew of Hillsboro, Kansas and George of Buhler, Kansas; and his second wife, Kathryn, and her children. Besides these, there are a host of relatives and friends.

We mourn not as those who have no hope, but trust in the Scriptures which say: “But thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through Our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Cor15:57.) His wife, three sons, five brothers, two sisters, and his parents preceded him in death.

All his life has been devoted to giving loving service to others, his chief joy and delight lay in bringing happiness to others.

Father had an operation on March 3, and suffered a stroke March 4. He passed to his reward on March 21, 1960, reaching the age of 79 years, eight months and 19 days.
