• Paul L. Boese, 53, owner and operator of the Dairy Queen on Newton's south side, died July 7 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Private burial services took place July 8 and a memorial service was held Friday evening at the Bethel College church where the family had been attending for some time. Officiating ministers were Rev. Melvin Schmidt, pastor of the Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church in Wichita of which Mr. Boese was a member, Rev. John Esau and Rev. Esko Loewen of the College congregation. Surviving in addition to the widow, the former Ruth Mueller, are three sons, Jody of Indianapolis, David of North Newton and Paul A. of the home in Newton; one stepson, Jim Mueller of Newton; three stepdaughters, Pat Friesen of Lincoln, Neb., Elaine Mueller of Denver, Colo., and Jo Mueller of Newton; six brothers, Leon of Medford, Ore., Warren of Walton, Cecil of Kingman, Howard, Dale and Wayne, all of Newton; three sisters, Irene Kiser of Wellington, Dora Riley of Lubbock, Tex., and Jean Friesen of Pocatello, Ida.; and one grandchild.
